I have had a bit of an absence from posting lately, largely due to the fact that I got visited by one of those pesky viruses and I have had a bit of trouble shaking it! I am sure that is in no small way related to the pressure I am feeling over my slow progress in the studio… I hope I will start to get my energy back this week!
Spring seems to be finally breaking here. The temperatures are above zero degrees and the snow is finally beginning to make a marked retreat. Soon all the dull white will recede into a short-lived brown – that brief moment of silence between the long Winter and the energy of Spring.
I have started a new canvas and I am passionate about the subject. I plan to post progress of the painting if I can take the time to pull myself away from it this week. I fired up the airbrush and I plan to play with it this afternoon. The sky in this one needs a smoothness that I have not been able to get on a canvas this size with even my biggest brush. The paint dries too fast to blend well. So let’s hope this offers the solution.
It is important that I finish this one before the snow is gone…. Stay tuned….

/ April 1, 2008When I was in art school a lot of artists were using air brush those days. It seems to have fallen out of fashion or I just on’t hear about it anymore. Good luck with the painting and it was great to read your post today.

Kinsey – Actually this sky cannot have a cloud in it anywhere….

/ April 2, 2008Glad you’re feeling better! Looking forward to seeing your latest masterpiece.
I have 2 airbrushes & remembered too late what a pain in the @$$ they can be. However, since I seem unable to sell them, I’m considering giving them another shot, myself.

/ April 2, 2008Hi Lana – If you mean pain in the a** to clean and for prep – I agree! Let’s hope the results make it worthwhile…!
