Well – I have been juggling projects this week, but, as I promised, here is the block in for my new painting “Twilight”. The canvas is 36″x24″. That is the largest canvas that I have worked with in a little while. I am very excited to see how this one progresses. (WIP is work in progress – just in case!)
Today I will begin to build up the background trees and add the snow. There is a little collapsed barn that I have decided, now, that I want to add – so I’ll lay that in as well. The detail and the final colour on the house will be the very last….
The house was very sombre – deep in the grip of winter when I encountered it in January. There was a stillness and silence around it. The sun had set at the end of the first full day of clear skies that we had received in weeks. For me it seemed to signify the end of one thing – an era perhaps – and the coming of a dark night. The night before the birth of something else….
You may have done this before I knew of you site but what a super idea to let us watch you build your painting. Really looking forward to watching it progress!
Hi Kinsey – Actually, this is the first time I have done this. Both a deadline and Linda inspired me to put up the process. I am glad you are enjoying the idea! ๐
I see the airbrushing–great job. Almost makes me want to give mine another try…almost. *LOL* Looking forward to seeing this progress! ๐
I know how you feel. Sometimes, it seems so serene and beautiful just before all chaos and fury bursts out. Will your final picture be serene or full of tension and dark energy? I guess we will have to wait and see.
Hi Lana! Go on… give it a try! And then share…. ๐
martin – Indeed we will. I am never sure how something is going to work out until it’s done…. I’ll post stage II later today.
JUST BEAUTIFUL! It is a seemingly simple picture and yet POWERFULLY complex for me because I felt both sad (while looking at the house – something from the past as it seemed empty) and then VERY joyous and alive due to the vibrant colors of the sky. Very well done.
Hi Robin – Well that was exactly the feeling I was going for… let’s hope the finished piece communicates it still.
