I seem to have had little luck missing the latest virus this past season and this winter left its final gift with me only hours after my last post. So I am behind on my blog posts, my blog visits and I fear the paint brush is still a few days away. I’ll get to everyone!
My husband came home ill a couple of weeks ago with what seemed like the aftermath of a less than pleasant meeting with a fast food sandwich and ended up not getting out of bed for a week. In fact, he has just returned to himself in the last few days. And like the gift that keeps on giving….
I thought I was about to pass out of the ‘danger zone’ – but – one day short of what should have put me in the clear, put me instead, in bed. For 8 straight days. It seems I was introduced to Influenza A. Not a friendly character. One that deprived me of sleep for 4 days before dropping me into an 18 hour coma and dragging me through what felt like a meat grinder and leaving several organs hanging on for dear life, lest I might cough just a little harder….
Today, for the first time, I actually can sit up for longer than 15 minutes at a time. I can eat. I can breathe in without coughing and my throat is now only sore in spots. Did I mention I can eat?!?
For a while, I was convinced I was moving to the next life and when it was clear I was not – I wished that I was….
Next year, I am getting the flu shot.
Bless your heart. That’s terrible. I recommend drinking green tea every single day of your life. It has completely changed my immune system and I no longer get these terrible episodes. When I do get sick it is very mild and lasts a day or two. I use 7 green tea bags, making iced tea with it. I leave the tea bags in the pitcher to soak up every bit until it is empty. I drink three or four glasses a day at least. It took a few months to build up the immunity. I was skeptical at first, but it really does work. I’ve been drinking it for at least five years now.
Love,
Linda

Michelle:
What a Class A bummer!
I’ve never done the flu shot until this year. Always thought I was pretty safe up here on my mountain and I avoid drugs and doctors like the plague. But, because I was going out into “the other world” I decided to give it a shot, if you’ll pardon the pun.
As it was my first time they gave me so many disclaimers I was pretty sure this was a suicide mission. I went home and waited to die. ๐
I didn’t die but I did have about three days where I thought I was “coming down” with the flu. Which was actually comforting because I knew my body was building anti-bodies. Sure enough, I was out there among ’em all winter and had nary a sniffle.
All this to say, I recommend the shot.
Glad you’re finally on the mend!
Kinsey & Koty
Oh Michelle, how awful! I do hope you regain your strength soon, and paint as soon as you are able!
Thank you Linda! I will have to try that. You have no issues with the caffeine?
Kinsey – You can be sure I’ll try whatever I have to – to avoid this!
Thanks, Jean! ๐
Hopefully after this terrible episode you will find renewed strength and inspiration. This has been a difficult winter for you.Sometimes we go through many dark valleys before we see the sun. Let’s hope you are on your way out of the dark.
I was loaded with inspiration and plans before getting hit over the head with this one…. Oh well. Maybe the places I planned to visit needed to be greener….? LOL!
Oh no! I’m so sorry to hear this. Hope you’re feeling better!
Sorry for my recent absence, too, but I’ve been pretty busy with my visitor (down from Toronto.)
Hope that shepherds pie helped ๐ Sorry to hear you got so sick, hope you get back on track real soon.
Hi Lana! I hope you’re having fun….
Jafa – It did – LOL! Getting very close. I can talk a little now! ๐
OK, Lazarus, get up and get to work. Glad you are getting out of it.
Later,
Wayne
LOL! I needed that! I have been wallowing a little in the tail end of this one – still a partial voice and fatigue – 2 1/2 weeks later!
OK – I’ll get to work!! :S
Wow! That was a humdinger of a flu. Hope you get back to your normal soon. I’ll be thinking of you next fall when the free flu shots come available. I keep missing them, but I think I’ll be getting in line.
Don’t work too hard; have some fun too.
I found your site through Lana Gramlich’s, and I’m glad I did. Your work is wonderful. Too bad about your flu bug. A good tea I like to use is ginger and lemon. Like green tea it boosts your immune system.
