Old General Store – Swords, acrylic, 30×24″ © Michelle Basic Hendry (larger version available on my home page)
So after telling the story of the ghost town of Swords, Ontario last week, I thought I should show this painting first. As I had mentioned in that post, I fell in love with this elegant old building and painting it was both a challenge and a pleasure. I hope to revisit this place… the serenity of its presence is still lingers.
oh WOW, I really love these paintings of the old houses, they have such a moody feel to them. Makes me curious about whats inside.
Wow! I love all the feeling of movement in the foreground grass, stunning painting Michelle
Michele,
This is just splendid in every way. Brava!!!
Love,
Linda
Well done. The entire things looks rather abandoned–from the building to the yard. Good job!
Yet another wonderful piece!!!
So live like!!
Cheers
Rita – I am as curious as you! It is pretty locked up tight and I am not certain if someone visits occasionally…
AC – Thank you! The grass was what nearly killed me…. 🙂
Thanks, Linda, Lana and Heather!
Hi Michelle,
You surprised me! Well done, very nice painting work. Beautiful clearly paint colors.
Greetings..
KT – I am glad you like it!
The wildflowers are perfect with it.
I like the path they create for the eye… Thanks, Laura!
You have some very stylish acrylic paintings…your photos of Michigan surprisingly look allot like the English country side apart from the buildings which sometimes feature.
This building is private property, showing its age and history, but not abandoned. Love the image.
