Cooper’s Shed, 8×10, acrylic on canvas ยฉ Michelle Basic Hendry
Cooper’s Shed is the first in a short series of paintings I am doing on the small, nearly ghost town, of Cooper’s Falls. I introduced Cooper’s Falls and the grandson of it’s founder Mr. Frank Cooper to you in August. This is a shed that sits behind the old Community Hall across from Mr. Cooper’s childhood home and the old store. The building is nearly absorbed by the forest behind it, but still stands strong – much like the town it resides in. I hope to share the paintings with Mr. Cooper when they are all complete.
It is so hard to believe, now that the snow has already fallen, that summer was just a short time ago. I sat by the Falls that run behind the old store at the end of Lover’s Lane, when the air was still so warm. I hope this little painting is a reminder of summers past.
I like the contrast–not just of light vs. dark, but of the red roof vs. the green surroundings. Very catchy. ๐
Wonderful painting…I wonder what the shed was used for back in the day!!!
Cheers
Beautiful scenery Michelle.
I’ve always loved these “houses in the forest”.
Love the greens you’ve used , it compliments the copper red roof . Good luck with your series and will follow them up.
A lovely old shed. The roof is beautiful. Sorry my last comment mentioned that you were in USA!! My mind was all over the place that day. I am sure Mr Cooper will love sharing your paintings.
This is charming and delightful Michlle.
