Art Cards ยฉ 2009 Michelle Basic Hendry
Thanks to everybody here who suggested a favourite painting for the cards. I have taken 5 of your suggestions and made a set. I will eventually include all of them, but I want to save some for the another set in the near future!
I put a great deal of thought into how I would produce the art cards. There are so many options – from services who do the printing and shipping for you, to quick ink-jet cards in a variety of sizes, to the art print card. I chose the last option. Here is why:
I spent a fair bit of time looking at different paper stocks and deciding whether it was best to print on the card itself or to go with a special paper and attach it to a card stock. I went with the latter. I was concerned about quality, the strength of the card stock and the appearance of the art. It was not the most inexpensive way to go and gave me the choice of using 100% recycled card stock and biodegradable clear sleeves as an option. This struck a chord with me – it was one way to share my art and reduce the impact on the places we landscape painters love so much.
I am very excited about being able to offer these “green” cards. I have a second more archival option available as well, in case the card is to be kept as a stand alone print. The cards and more details are available here.
Thanks everyone for being a part of the process!
Storm is Coming ยฉ 2009 Michelle Basic Hendry
I thought I would include another shot from my wanderings last week. This one will probably end up a small painting in the next few weeks….
Hi Michelle, Your art cards are very classy. Love the selection from your work. Great job!
Thanks, Janelle!
These look great! Nice job!
they look great ๐
very moody photo, really like how you have captured the clouds. should make a lovely painting
100% recycled stock? How very cool! Ironically I was thinking about getting into cards, myself (if I don’t quit painting altogether, which is also an option at this point, to be honest.)
The cards look lovely! Kudos!
I am so very very proud of you for the choices you are making with these cards. I am just blown away. I stand up and applaud you, right down to the biodegradable sleaves. Wow!! I was so thrilled when I read this. You also made great picks for the cards, both warm colors and cool colors and yet they all tie together as a set. I’m just very impressed with the whole thing.
I also REALLY love this little white door and the window below with the light patterns dancing across it. There is something so immediately peaceful about it, inviting. You have that same quality in all you paintings. Very very evocatve and emotional in both a poignant and peaceful way.
Really lovely cards.
