Brown Chair, 5×7, acrylic
Today (November 9, 2012) marks the fifth anniversary of the Artscapes Blog.
I cannot believe that what I took up as a way of talking about my paintings and art in general, has taken on such a life of its own. Things have come a long way since 2007. So has the view out my window. I couldn’t have imagined the journey I would take. I am so grateful for those of you who have supported me and stuck with me over the years. I am also excited to see new names in the comment section in the last year.
To express that gratitude, and to mark this special occasion I am giving away the 5×7″ original painting on canvas board pictured at the top of this post. The giveaway is open ONLY to current subscribers to the Blog and/or the Newsletter. Congrats to you both…
Two things – firstly we HAVE a chair like that (and some blue walls too !) and it feels like home and secondly – the sharpness of the shadows – they are so evocative and mean there is SUN.
Yeah – I don’t think you’ve seen too much of that this year in the UK! You are entered! 🙂
I love art because it transports me to another place and time, complete with all the sights, smells, tastes, sounds, and feelings it can evoke. All that wonderment within just one picture, song or paragraph. Truly amazing!
I agree! Nicely said…. You are entered!
You mean there are people out there who don’t??? What planet are they from?
:0)
As an art lover, I feel art is everywhere…the moment we open our eyes in the morning, it’s there. The challenge is only to be awake and see it.
As a person trying to creat art, what I love about it, is that you can then get lost in trying to express your vision.
Love the new painting Michelle!!
LOL! 😀
So true. Thanks, Anita! Your are entered too!
I also wanted to say…5 years!! Doesn’t the time fly?
Congratulations!!
Thanks!! I can hardly believe it….
What I love most about Art is seeing past the first glance.
It is amazing what you can see for feel that you see when you give yourself
the time. This is always more than meets the eye.
As in “The Brown Chair” some may see just that – I see and wonder about the room the chair is in, who is the chair waiting for or is someone already there just in the shadows. The play on light suggests morning – new day, new beginning…
I have been really enjoy your work Michelle – I am so glad you have found your passion. Congratulations on Five years already!
Christine
Thanks, Christine! I love how art creates a story for you… Your entry is counted!
Congratulations on 5 great years!!! As an art lover, where to start?! Art lets us glimpse at the world through someone else’s eyes. That is an incredible gift. Thanks for sharing your “vision” for the last 5 years.
Through someone’s else’s eyes… I like that! Thanks, Nely! Entry noted…. 😀
(I’m subscribed to the newsletter.) I love art because it’s a part of who I am. Couldn’t live without it!
I feel that! Entered (2)!! Good luck this weekend at your show….
I love art because it opens your eyes to all the beauty in the world. You see things that other people pass right by in their travels each day. It also can cause many emotions when you look at different styles of art. It is just always a growing experience.
It has a way of opening up the mundane, doesn’t it? Entered! 🙂
ART is an expression of our soul and what is important to us. That is what appeals to me about ART. As artists it is our passion to find ways of conveying our feelings, our messages, our images that bounce around in our mind. If we can’t physically create art everyday we think about creating art everyday.
Michelle, your art reflects times from the past as seen in the present. It helps to transport the viewer and ignites imagined memories. Keep up your beautiful inspiring work!
Linda
Thank you Linda! Art IS an expression of soul… Your entry is added!
Hi Michelle, I’ve always loved art! I believe it’s because I appreciate the world around me, the colours, light and shadow, vastness and mystery of nature. I love exploring it in detail, wether enjoying someone else’s view of it or my own.
We hone in on details, don’t we? You’re entered! 🙂
I love art because it allows me to create and explore, simple as that. art lets me gets images out of my head, i might not show anyone but it helps to get them out of my head
5 years?! time flies
I know, eh?? And you’ve been there since pretty much the beginning too. Glad you get it out of your head too! 🙂
You’re entered!
Congratulations on your blogaversary, Michelle!! Ohhhh, only a line or two on why I love art?? Ok, I’ll try.
I love art because I can take what I see in my heart and put that on canvas. I love art that others create because another’s heart is presented to me, and that often takes my breath away!
I love when that happens! Thanks, Jean – entered!
Michelle,
Your art opens up the windows of memories to the Heart and Soul.
Especially when it is the places that I know. The happy memories brought
back as I view all your pictures. Coopers Falls esp. and the surrounding
areas…unbelieveable.
The chair is one like we have from my Great-Grandmother’s old cottage, still standing. Her spirit is still there, sitting in this old chair. A spirit of so many warm
memories. That cup of tea, served to thee, sitting in the sun, you pictures bring
warmth of thought, each and every one.
Shawn Adele
What a wonderful image… Thanks Shawn Adele! Entered!
I don’t love all art. I love art that speaks to me – pulls me into the piece and engages my mind as well as my emotions. To me the best work of art is one that makes you think as well as feel. Thanks for doing that all these years, Michelle!
Thanks Kristi! Entered… 🙂
Your paintings were the first to ever grace the walls at North Restaurant (and our coffee!!)
Your paintings selling right off the walls of North (sometimes while people were eating dinner!!!) was the thing that taught us that if you see something of beauty and it moves you, then you better hurry up and buy it or else someone else will! (I’m thinking specifically of ‘Windermere Farm.’)
We finally got smart and purchased the breathtaking ‘Echoes’ and later ‘Early Harvest.’ They now give us great pleasure on the walls of our home.
You also deserve the credit for kick starting our art collection in general!
Wow! I didn’t know that… I am so honoured! It means so much to me that you guys love the work. Entered!
