A cold tap
Where no water flows
Autumn falls

This is little painting is a tiny one, 5×5, and it inspired a short Haiku above. I thought it was appropriate because it lives in a very wabi sabi place, the old Sparrow Lake Lodge. This tap hasn’t had running water through it for many years and sits on the mainly empty third floor. The white sink reflected the teal painted plank walls. It seemed beautiful and lonely.

Glad you like it, Terry! One you might recognize coming soon….
ooh shiny 🙂
i am horrible at writing haikus, hated writing them in high school. would rather just write a full length poem *shrugs* can’t seem to write what I mean with so little syllables :p
Haiku can be a challenge – distilling a single moment. Some things call for much more, but some things don’t. I use the alternative form for English 3-5-3. I read that English is more economical with syllables than Japanese which uses the 5-7-5 form. I’m still learning!
I didnt know they were different forms, 3-5-3 is even shorter lol
The thought of attempting a Haiku is leaving me speechless, but an interesting discussion, and congrats on your donation to the fundraiser. I am sure they are very pleased with this thoughtful piece.
