I haven’t pulled out the oil kit in nearly a year. The convenience of the designer’s gouache and sketchbook has been addictive and i’m more inclined to practice. Most of the sketches I’ve done since the beginning of the moving process last August have been mediocre at best, but in the last month, I’m enjoying it more. I’m enjoying the architecture of the locations too. One of the shapes I’m finding I like are rectangles, boxes, so naturally, buildings. It seems they’re still a part of me.

It has been fairly hot, another reason oil doesn’t appeal. Perhaps I’ll get them out again in the Autumn. But for now, it feels good to paint outside. The spreads are 5″x16″.
I see you are still experimenting …
Always fun to see what inspires you next .
These are more just practice. Nothing beats painting on location for skills. The experiments are mainly in the studio!
I love these little books they are small treasure troves and a peek into the artists psyche
Well that sounds hmmmm…. LOL!
Buildings and your style just go really well together 🙂
Thanks Jennifer Rose. I appreciate the similar observation. Sometimes we think things, but they’re not always accurate. I’m hoping it still applies to trees! LOL!
